    This was our first time buying a house and there was some lack in communication on what all was needed at the time. our direct contact didn’t seem to understand that we had work lives and could not jump and get something last minute while we were at work. The process was pushed out many times due to last minute communication. We were never told a date and time of closing til title blue contacted us directly. I know the process of buying a house takes along time, but I feel like there could have been more communication to make the process go a little smoother. However, We liked all of the online signing options and being able to view and upload documents directly to AFN. Overall we are excited about our new home and we appreciate the time and effort that was put in to the process by everyone that got us to closing.

    Lenders gave me hell, they had me running through so many hoops, day of closing 45 minutes until I signed papers they came up with more b***s***

    The constant harassment of documents that were already received during the beginning of the refinancing process, we are busy people and informed the company that we are temporarily working away from home. I understand the updated paycheck stubs, but we sent all the tax filings and house information.

    I could tell the person I worked with was frustrated with the difficult process in Hawaii. She stated she hated my house a few times. There was info I needed and she stated. “I don’t have that.” I let her know I would try asking someone else and within a minute she had the info. Seemed lazy. The process with Hawaii was difficult, but it is a business and your team is making money off of us no matter how challenging it is. Wasn’t exactly the service or care I would expect from a lender.

    My contacts at AFN were not particularly communicative. I felt like often I had to check in to find out the status of something, especially toward the very end of the process, or I would provide documents and not receive a confirmation unless I specifically asked for it. I understand that it's a very busy time, but I would have preferred more communication and helpful explanation along the way as a first time homebuyer, which I did not really receive.

    I never really talked with Nick. I spoke and went thru Cole Larkins who was amazing!! He had great customer service although I was unable to get the 2.25

    My ratings reflects my overall experience with refinancing my loan w/American Financial (AM). The process took much longer than I was told "3-weeks; started loan process on Aug. 25th & closed on Nov 3rd. In part, my delay was due to my having a HELOC that required subordination by another bank. Given AM's experience with this requirement, I should have been informed that the process would take much longer. As of Nov. 23rd, I have yet to receive a copy of the refi paperwork that I signed.

    My loan was the worst consumer experience untill Matt Schultz got involved to actually get the loan moving.
